 PERIOPERATIVE
NURSING 101
We are pleased to announce our
participation in an AORN accredited
course, entitled Perioperative
Nursing 101. This course prepares
the Registered Nurse to become an
integral part of the surgical team in a
day surgery setting. The Fall 2005 class
is currently in session, however we
encourage you to submit your name and
address to be added to our mailing list
for the 2006 class.
The course consists of:
1. Classroom instruction: Tuesdays and
Thursdays 4PM to 6PM onsite.
- Lecture and discussion
- Video presentations
- Actual hands-on lab experience
2. Clinical experience: eight hours
per week
- Individually scheduled for the
student’s convenience.
- Self skills-checklist
3. Reading assignments:
- Alexander’s Care of the Patient
in Surgery
- Current AORN Standards,
Recommended Practices and Guidelines
for Ambulatory Surgery
- Student Study Notebook
Small class size with individual
attention.
Educational CEU’s (80.5 of them!) will
be awarded upon successful completion of
a final exam. AORN is also offering a
free year’s membership including twelve
issues of the AORN magazine. Job
opportunities and referrals will be
available.
New
graduates are encouraged to apply.
